Falling, With Style

   Thursday, August 07, 2003
Too hot to think, to hot to work, to hot to write anything even vaguely interesting or amusing. Temperatures hit a record high for London yesterday (36.7 or something stupid like that) though things have cooled down today - ha!
Also Arnie's running for the California governership. Should make things amusing - I guess if a Democrat ain't going to win then a novelty liberal-Republican isn't the worse that could happen.

I'd only read about pub theatre in lifestyle supplements, but last night I went to a performance above the Oxford Arms, just up the road. Pretty much as I expected; minimalist decor, five rows of hard benches (though nicely tiered) and audience and cast almost tripping over each other. In other words great fun in a low-fi way. It helped that the play was decent, written by a fof from university. Always interesting to go along to such things if only for the old acquaintances who turn up. Also a reminder of how close the 'five years after leaving uni' date is. Scary stuff.
